WHO CAN APPLY?
First, consult with your child's teacher or interventionist, as a teacher recommendation is required before parents apply. Due to the nature of our program, we only can accept students who may have decoding difficulties or disabilities. Students have a decoding difficulty if they are in grade K-2 and exhibit the following behaviors:
-
difficulty hearing or "breaking apart" the sounds within words
-
difficulty recalling the alphabet
-
difficulty naming letters
-
difficulty forming or recalling the sounds that letters make
-
frequent errors when reading aloud
MY STUDENT HAS/DOESN'T HAVE AN IEP; CAN THEY APPLY?
Special Education status is not a factor. We are here to help students who haven't mastered the code-- yet.
HOW DO I APPLY?
Student recommendation form is open to DCPS Primary Teachers until April 28th. Parents of recommended students will be contacted after the student recommendation window closes.
If interested in our Spring 2024 cohort please complete the following form.
Please note that a student's DIBELS (reading data from the school) is the primary factor in determining his/her need and fit for the program.
WHERE IS THE CLINIC?
The Clinic runs in two locations.
